VW Golf is the most popular choice for car leasers

A recent search engine poll has revealed that the VW Golf remains the most popular choice for car leasing users.

This achievement means that the VW model has remained on the top spot amongst car leasers throughout 2008 and 2009 and the model is now the current leader for 2010.

In fact, Volkswagen‘s other models are also popular choices as they make up six out of the top ten most searched for models.

Richard Lawton, a leasing expert, said, “The Golf seems almost a permanent fixture now as our top search.

The Golf is still number one because it offers the near perfect combination of strong residuals, space, practicality and prestige.”

With these features the model seems to be a versatile choice for most drivers, perhaps this explains why it is such a popular choice.

Some of the other leasing favourites include the Mercedes C-Class saloon, which came in second place and the Audi A5, which came in third. Other popular choices that appeared in the top ten include the German BMW 3-Series and 5-series also the Audi A3.

However, the Ford Fiesta performed poorly in the ratings, dropping out of the top ten for the first time since 2007, which may be caused by recent price increases.

Mr Lawton added, “And with a wide range of models to choose from, the Golf has the ‘everyman’ appeal that business and personal contract hire customers find irresistible without compromising on the sense of status.”
